This is the 2012 Update.
And it is 180 for Universities, 160 for Polytechnics and College of Education
Using this Educational platform to broadcast to the Nigeria students, and to inform the general public that Jamb has officially Announce their cut-off marks for entry and admission into Nigerian Universities for the 2012/2013 Academic Session.
The Jamb official cut-off for Nigeria Universities has been fixed and officially set to 180 jamb score.
While the Cut off mark for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education have been fixed to 160.
It is important for you, as a Nigeria University or polytechnic aspirant to note that these are the benchmark cut-off mark for Each educational institution in Nigeria.
What this mean is that No University cut-off mark should be below 180 and also No polytechnic or college of education cut-off mark is below 160.
For any student or aspirants to gain admission into any educational institutions into Nigerian University, such student must score 180 and above.
You should also note that any candidate who scored below 159 cannot gain admission into any polytechnic or college of Education this 2012/2013 academic session.
Honestly speaking, any student who fall into the 159 jamb score category will sadly, have to re-write Jamb UTME 2013/2014.
This is the official cut-off mark released by Jamb Board.
Although, each Educational institution has the right, and also reserves the right to personally set off higher Cut off mark for their institution than the benchmark set by jamb Board.
But not lower.
What this means in general, is that most Federal Universities may set their OWN cut off mark to be 200 and above and some Federal Polytechnics may chose their cut off mark to be 180 and above.
BUT NOT LOWER!.
For Polytechnic whose cut-off mark is somehow free, that is to say, they accept all candidates who apply for their school as long as they chose it as their First or second choice.

Most educational Institution can chose to cut above the benchmark set by the Jamb Board.
And in some case, the cut-off mark for each Department maybe higher than others.
For example of courses that their cut off marks are normally high is Medicine , which cut above 240.
